A new report from Cedars Sinai Medical Center discusses the use of robotic navigational bronchoscopy in the management of pulmonary nodules. The study found that robotic navigational bronchoscopy has a high diagnostic yield and can obtain adequate tissue for molecular analysis, which is important for selecting targeted therapies. The procedure can also be combined with surgery to treat lung cancer as a single procedure with low complication rates. Factors associated with increased diagnostic yield were decreased time from planning computed tomography to procedure date and greater nodule size. [Extracted from the article] |
