Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts compared the outcomes of endovascular therapy (EVT) versus best medical management (BMT) for patients with mild strokes due to medium and distal vessel occlusions (DMVO). The study included 80 subjects and found that there was no statistical difference in the NIHSS at discharge or in the modified Rankin scale (mRS) at discharge between the EVT and BMT groups. Additionally, there was no difference in the 3-month mRS or the incidence of all-type parenchymal hemorrhage. The researchers concluded that treatment with EVT versus BMT was associated with similar outcomes for DMVO patients with low admission NIHSS, but larger prospective studies are needed to confirm these findings.
