A study conducted at the "Bambino Gesu" Children's Hospital in Rome, Italy, examined the lung ultrasound (LUS) features in neonates and infants with bronchiolitis to determine if there were differences in LUS scores between those with coinfections and those without. The study included 60 patients, with 70% having a single viral infection and 30% having coinfections. The researchers found no statistically significant differences in the LUS scores between patients with single viral infections and those with multiple infections. The study suggests that LUS scores can be a useful tool in predicting the need for respiratory support and the length of hospital stay in infants with bronchiolitis. [Extracted from the article] |
