Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China explores the role of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) in inhibiting the effect of ferroptosis in prostate cancer. The study reveals that TAM-secreted taurine suppresses ferroptosis by activating the Liver X receptor alpha/Stearoyl-Coenzyme A desaturase 1 (LXR alpha/SCD1) pathway. Additionally, the study uncovers a reciprocal interaction between prostate cancer cells and TAMs, mediated by TAM-secreted taurine and tumor extracellular vesicles (EVs) containing miR-181a-5p. The findings suggest that targeting taurine transport could be a promising strategy to restore sensitivity to ferroptosis in prostate cancer treatment. [Extracted from the article] |
