A recent study conducted by researchers at China Pharmaceutical University focused on the compatibility of a novel antimicrobial peptide, Cbf-14, with glycerol. The study aimed to assess impurities in Cbf-14 gel and investigate the interactions between Cbf-14 and glycerol. The researchers identified and characterized eleven peptide degradation impurities and found that the impurities were caused by condensation reactions between Cbf-14 and aldehydes derived from glycerol degradation. The study also revealed that the interaction products in the gel increased with extended storage time. This research provides valuable insights into the compatibility of peptides and glycerol and can inform the design of other peptide preparations and excipient selections.
