A study conducted at Ashikaga Red Cross Hospital in Japan focused on rhomboid tears, a rare type of tendon injury that can cause periscapular pain and scapular dyskinesis. The study aimed to understand the clinical presentations and diagnostic procedures for rhomboid tears, as well as explore surgical treatment options. The researchers presented a case report of a 28-year-old man with a complete rhomboid major tear, who underwent surgical repair using the Krackow stitch technique. The study concluded that surgery may be necessary for persistent medial scapular pain and winging scapula caused by rhomboid tears, and that locking sutures can be an effective treatment option.
