A new study conducted by researchers at Goethe-University Frankfurt in Germany focuses on the implementation of a complex mental health intervention in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The study, called the Mental Health Promotion and Intervention in Occupational Settings (MENTUPP) intervention, was pilot tested in 25 SMEs across three work sectors and nine countries. The evaluation of the pilot test used a mixed-methods approach and focused on dimensions such as reach, adoption, implementation, acceptability, appropriateness, feasibility, and maintenance. The study identified factors that facilitated implementation, such as the provision of materials and support from research officers, as well as barriers to implementation, including difficulties in discussing mental health and challenges posed by COVID-19. The results of the study will be used to optimize the MENTUPP intervention and the theoretical framework used to evaluate its causal mechanisms. This research contributes to the evidence base for mental health interventions in the workplace and can serve as a guide for addressing their contextual complexity. [Extracted from the article] |
