A recent study conducted by researchers at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, examined the prevalence of burnout, professional fulfillment, and intention to leave among physicians at academic-affiliated health care systems. The study surveyed over 18,000 academic physicians and found that 32.6% reported moderate or higher intention to leave their institution within the next two years. Factors such as burnout, lack of professional fulfillment, and other well-being factors were associated with intention to leave, highlighting the need for comprehensive approaches to reduce physician turnover. The study emphasizes the importance of addressing these issues to ensure the delivery of quality care and reduce financial burdens on the healthcare system. [Extracted from the article] |
