A new report from researchers at Nanjing Brain Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University in China explores the role of the insula in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The study found structural abnormalities in the insula in drug-naive OCD patients, specifically in the granular and dysgranular insula. The researchers also discovered that the duration and severity of OCD can affect the thickness covariance of these insula regions with other brain regions. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the pathological mechanisms underlying OCD. [Extracted from the article] |
