Abstrakt: Zinc Oxide (ZnO) has been widely used as photocatalyst material due to the material has high surface area, low-cost, and non-toxicity. ZnO has band gap energy 3.28 eV so it only works in UV spectrum. The purpose of this work is to know optical absorption and band gap effects of the addition of N doping in ZnO. In this work, we synthesize ZnO doped N using sonication following with immersion method. In this method, NH3 solution was dissolving with a certain concentration with ZnO powder then stirred with a stirrer followed by ultrasonication. The solution was left for certain time, the precipitate obtained was baked at 130 °C followed by calcination at a temperature of 500 °C. UV-Vis Spectroscopy analysis result showed the optimal value of the addition of NH3 is 0.5M with the optical band gap energy at 3.17 eV and the working area of the ZnO photocatalyst slightly shifting.
