Nowadays, choosing green suppliers is a crucial aspect of supply chain management. Utilizing green considerations in supplier selection is vital for any organisation given the growing concern over environmental protection and ecological preservation. The fundamental idea behind choosing environmentally friendly suppliers is to rate suppliers according to a number of environmental and financial factors before choosing the one with the highest ranking. So, choosing green suppliers is an important task. The implementation of the recently proposed Proximity Indexed Value approach is suggested for the current work. This approach is used to solve a sample problem, and the results are compared to those produced using the MOORA, COPRAS, and Grey Relational Analysis methods for the same problem to validate the suggested method. Results revealed that the top two ranks and the last two rank for the suppliers acquired by implementing the proposed approach perfectly coincides with those ranks attained by past research methods except GRA method. Prior studies using the suggested method produced correlation coefficients between the ranks for the example problem that are greater than 0.8, representing a strong correlation. In one case correlation coefficient is unity, it indicates perfect matching. As a result, the complicated and time-consuming supplier selection processes could use the proposed proximity indexed value approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
