Investigation of a direct current traction power supply system when trains are running in a virtual coupling.

Abstrakt: The article is devoted to research of 3.0 kV DC traction power supply system under conditions of unified mass goods trains movement in virtual coupling. The criteria for evaluating the technical and energy efficiency of the power supply system are defined, with the help of which the obtained results of traction power supply system modelling are analysed. Introduction of voltage regulation devices by the Contactless Automatic Voltage Regulation (CAVR) system at traction substations is proposed as a variant of enhancement. At the intersubstation zones, where this option is ineffective, an additional unregulated single-unit substation is used. The percentage change in electrical energy losses is determined depending on the train schedule option and the method of system amplification. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
