Balancing transformer for AC railway power supply.

Abstrakt: The article shows that a balancing transformer is able to replace existing power transformers installed on electrified AC railways. The criteria for design development and the best conditions for the use of balancing transformers are determined, on the basis of which the balancing transformer TRDNZhSM is designed for a 2x25 kV traction power supply system. Comparison of technical and economic characteristics of balancing transformers with single-phase transformers that are traditionally installed in the 2x25 kV traction power supply system. To confirm the design parameters of the design of the developed transformer, its experimental model was manufactured and tested. The results of the experiments carried out proved the correctness of the calculations. It also shows the possibility of developing a new direction in the development of the AC railway power supply system using modern versions of balancing transformers in combination with the use of high-voltage four-phase power lines.
