Abstrakt: |
This document is the introduction to a special issue of the journal Education Sciences focused on critical perspectives in mathematics teacher education. The authors argue that mathematics education research should encompass not only cognitive but also cultural, social, and political issues. They use the term "critical" to address these issues from a Freirean perspective, aiming to inspire learners and educators to understand and critique power structures and patterns of inequality. The special issue covers a range of critical perspectives in mathematics teacher education, including coursework with prospective teachers, professional development for practicing teachers, and theoretical reflections on research and practices.
