A recent study conducted by researchers from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital in Maharashtra, India, focused on collagenous enterocolitis, a rare condition that affects both the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. The study examined two cases of patients with chronic diarrhea and other symptoms, and found increased intraepithelial lymphocytes and collagen deposition in the intestinal lining. The researchers concluded that collagenous colitis, collagenous sprue, and collagenous duodenitis share similar histological features and can rarely coexist. Further research is needed to better understand the causes and associations of these conditions. [Extracted from the article] |
