Researchers from Toulouse University Hospital conducted a cross-sectional study to investigate the associations between blood nutritional biomarkers and cerebral amyloid-beta (Aβ) load, which is associated with Alzheimer's disease. The study included 177 older adults with cognitive impairment, prefrailty, or frailty. The researchers found that higher concentrations of certain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) were associated with lower global Aβ load, while linoleic acid was associated with higher global Aβ load. However, the researchers caution that longitudinal studies are needed to further understand these associations. The research was supported by MSDAVENIR, the endowment fund for health research.
