A new report from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia discusses the association between atrial fibrillation (AF) and outcomes in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). The study found that patients with AF had worse short-term outcomes, including a higher occurrence of acute kidney injury and major bleeding. Additionally, AF at discharge was independently associated with an increased risk of all-cause death, cardiovascular hospitalization, and all-cause hospitalization in the long term. The research concludes that the presence of AF is associated with both short- and long-term adverse outcomes in patients undergoing TAVI. [Extracted from the article] |
