A systematic review conducted by researchers at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy focused on the management of tibia periprosthetic fractures in arthroplasty patients. The study analyzed data from 1990 to 2022 and found that periprosthetic tibial fractures are more common in women, obese individuals, and those with rheumatoid arthritis. Treatment options varied, with stable fractures being treated in different ways and unstable fractures primarily being approached through revision total knee arthroplasty. Intraoperative fractures were treated both conservatively and surgically. This research highlights the complexity of periprosthetic tibia fractures and their impact on orthopedics traumatology.
