A report from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, discusses the most up-to-date guidelines for managing bladder trauma. The researchers conducted a search of databases and identified six guidelines from various professional organizations. While there is consensus on the diagnosis and management of bladder injuries, there are discrepancies and lack of recommendations regarding follow-up, iatrogenic bladder injury, pediatric bladder trauma, and spontaneous bladder rupture. The role of minimally invasive techniques in treating stable patients is gaining traction, but further research is needed to better understand this treatment option. [Extracted from the article] |
