Abstrakt: A study conducted by researchers at Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poland investigated the occurrence of grossly bloody colostrum, which is defined as the presence of brownish or bloody-colored colostrum. The study found that the frequency of this condition is 0.1% of all births, and no specific factors were identified as predisposing factors. The researchers collected colostrum samples from 137 participants and analyzed them for the presence of red blood cells (RBCs). They concluded that the presence of RBCs in breast milk did not cause milk intolerance in newborns and recommended supporting mothers and avoiding interruptions in breast milk feeding, even in cases of grossly bloody colostrum.
