Abstrakt: Histoplasmosis, a fungal infection, is a neglected disease in South America, particularly among HIV-infected patients. The disease often affects neglected populations and is a leading cause of AIDS-related deaths in the region. However, it is mostly undiagnosed and not included in diagnostic algorithms used by many clinicians. The lack of a simple and affordable diagnostic test has made it difficult to determine the burden of the disease. There is a need for increased awareness, improved diagnostic tools, and affordable treatment options to address this issue. [Extracted from the article]
