The letter responds to an article evaluating the performance of the DiaSys PCT assay for procalcitonin testing. The authors note that the DiaSys PCT assay showed good analytical performance and agreement with other licensed methods at higher concentrations, but had poor agreement and higher imprecision at lower concentrations. They also discuss the limitations of the study, including different protocols used for evaluation and the lack of information about PCT concentrations. The authors highlight the advantages of the PETIA technology used in the DiaSys assay, such as faster results and lower costs, particularly in low or middle-income countries. They emphasize the need for standardization and an international reference material for procalcitonin assays. [Extracted from the article] |
