Abstrakt: Short term injections of the thyrotrophic hormone have been shown to occasion a sharp fall in the blood cholesterol of hypercholesterolaemic rabbits, both in the presence and absence of the thyroid gland. In the intact hypercholesterolaemic animal this initial fall was followed by a marked and prolonged elevation of the blood cholesterol level. Thyroidectomy or injections of the thyrotrophic hormone were found to abolish the "resistance," noted in certain of the animals fed cholesterol, to the development of a state of hypercholesterolaemia.
