A recent study conducted by researchers at Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences in Sari, Iran, highlights the increasing prevalence of atherosclerotic aortic valve stenosis in the Iranian population due to the rise in average age and metabolic diseases. The study emphasizes the importance of implementing the transcatheter aortic valve placement method (TAVI) as a non-invasive intervention for patients who are unable to undergo open heart surgery or are at high risk. The researchers propose the need for equipping the Mazandaran Heart Center with a 3D transesophageal echocardiography device and providing the necessary physical facilities, training, and insurance coverage to support the TAVI procedure.
