Abstrakt: A recent report discusses new research on the central nervous system, specifically focusing on the inhibitory glycinergic projection from the cochlear nucleus to the lateral superior olive. This projection plays a role in sound localization using interaural level differences. The study utilized electrical and optical stimulation of afferents in mouse brainstem slices and anatomical tracing to describe the glycinergic projection. The findings suggest that this inhibitory synaptic input mediates the inhibitory sidebands of lateral superior olive neurons in response to acoustic stimulation.
