A recent report from the University of Airlangga provides a profile of scabies in a boarding school in Surabaya. Scabies is a skin infection caused by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei hominis, which can be transmitted through direct contact and causes itching and secondary infections. The study found that scabies cases were most common in boys aged 13 to 15, with the majority of lesions found all over the body, including between the fingers. The research emphasizes the importance of education on scabies, personal hygiene, and environmental hygiene to prevent further transmission. [Extracted from the article] |
