The reliability and tactical operation capability of multirotor are known to be much superior compared to the fixed wing or VTOL fixed-wing configuration, however, the endurance of this configuration is far inferior to other configurations. The aim of the developed power generator unit is to produce a maximum power of 2.4 kW and a weight of less than 4 kg, the power unit is to be equipped with the current multirotor unit with 20 kg MTOW. The power generator unit uses a two-stroke engine, which utilizes standard petrol gas and brushless direct current motor, designed for remote control boat/car/aircraft unit. The experiment result of utilizing G320PUM as main power unit and X7025 as the generator unit show 87.5% power efficiency and 75% electrical efficiency conversion, respectively. As a study case, the performance of a conventional multirotor, which utilizes battery only, will be compared to developed hybrid configuration performance. The current test bench result shows a potential increase of endurance from 40 minutes to 5.8 hours, about a 5.8 times significant increase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
