This article discusses the successful treatment of interstitial ectopic pregnancy using methotrexate. Ectopic pregnancy is a condition where the fertilized egg implants outside of the uterus, and it can be life-threatening if it ruptures. Risk factors for ectopic pregnancy include infertility, prior pelvic inflammatory disease, smoking, and multiple partners. The article presents a case study of a woman with interstitial ectopic pregnancy who was treated with methotrexate, a medication that stops the growth of the pregnancy. The treatment was successful, and the woman's beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (ß-hCG) levels returned to normal. The article concludes that methotrexate is an effective treatment option for selected cases of intact interstitial ectopic pregnancies. [Extracted from the article] |
