Abstrakt: The study focused on the ability of water distillation residue from Pinus nigra Arn. needles to remove Cr (VI) ions from an aqueous solution. Batch experiments investigated the effect of different bio-sorption parameters. Maximum metal removal (99.48 ± 0.31%) was obtained at pH = 1.0, adsorbent dose 10.0 g L−1, agitation speed 250 rpm, initial Cr (VI) concentration 60 mg L−1, temperature 23.0 ± 1.0°C and contact time of 40 min. Regression analysis of experimental kinetics data indicated the best fit of pseudo-second-order model (R2 = 0.999). The experimental equilibrium data correlated very well to the Langmuir isotherm model (R2 = 0.992). Calculated maximum adsorption capacity (qmax = 20.0 mg g−1) demonstrated good application of investigated waste biomass for the removal of Cr (VI) ions from aqueous solutions compared to other reported bio-sorbents.
