E-learning has proven its effectiveness when it is used in combination with traditional forms of learning. The global pandemic has contributed to its unconditional implementation in order to continue the normal rhythm of the learning process. The e-learning systems and tools allow the usage of various forms, methods and techniques in the performance of educational activities. An important stage in education is the assessment of learners' knowledge and skills. The examination activities are conducted face to face in traditional distance learning. In current extreme situation this is not possible and in order to successfully complete the learning cycle, the examination and assessment activities have to be carried out remotely. Many questions arise - whether the assessment is objective and the independent performance of the examination tasks and quizzes by learners is guaranteed or there are opportunities for fraud and dishonest behaviour on their part. The aim of the current paper is to present the experience of educators from Trakia University in the use of tools that support the assessment process in online mode and create conditions for building a secure environment for online exams.
