Kansas Governor Laura Kelly spoke at the Governor's Conference on the Future of Water, emphasizing the importance of protecting the state's water supply. She highlighted the progress made in addressing the water crisis, including the creation of a Water Subcabinet and the passage of two landmark bills. Governor Kelly also mentioned an agreement reached with the Kansas Department of Agriculture and the federal Fish and Wildlife Service regarding water rights issues. She acknowledged the need for compromises and partnerships among stakeholders with differing objectives. The state has funding available and access to technology and expertise from Kansas State University to support water conservation efforts.
