Abstrakt: A new study conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University in China has found that certain inflammatory markers derived from complete blood count results can predict treatment failure in patients with acute peritonitis. The study analyzed the records of 138 peritonitis episodes and found that markers such as the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) were significantly higher in the treatment failure group. Age, PD vintage, NLR, and PLR were identified as significant risk factors for treatment failure in peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis (PDAP) patients. [Extracted from the article]
