Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev examined the relationship between mildly reduced and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and cardiovascular morbidity and all-cause mortality in a healthy community-based cohort. The study analyzed 20,385 echocardiograms of healthy individuals with LVEF 45% collected between 2002-2015. The results showed that mildly reduced and preserved LVEF were associated with higher all-cause mortality and cardiovascular morbidity compared to normal LVEF. The researchers suggest that LVEF should be used as a parameter in cardiovascular disease prediction algorithms to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.
