A recent report discusses the self-reported health effects of pesticides among cotton farmers in the Central-West region of Burkina Faso. The study found that both conventional and organic cotton farmers experienced health effects, but these effects were significantly associated with conventional farmers compared to organic ones. The health effects reported included skin effects, nervous system effects, and respiratory system effects. Conventional farmers reported higher rates of skin irritation, severe headaches, vomiting, and diarrhea compared to organic farmers.
