A recent systematic review conducted by researchers from Mustansiriyah University in Baghdad, Iraq, explores non-pharmacological pain management techniques for labor. The study highlights the challenges faced by obstetricians and expectant mothers in managing labor pain and the potential risks associated with pharmacological pain management. The researchers conducted a comprehensive search of six databases and categorized the gathered data into physical, psychological, and complementary non-pharmacological pain management techniques. The review aims to provide obstetricians with a better understanding of contemporary non-pharmacological pain management options, including their efficacy, advantages, limitations, and potential adverse effects, to assist in decision-making for women in childbirth.
