A new report from Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University in Odisha, India presents research on the fabrication of plasmonic Ag/ZIF-8 composite and its effects on antibacterial, haemolytic, and photocatalytic degradation of antibiotics. The researchers prepared Ag/ZIF-8 using varying molar concentrations of AgNO3 and NaBH4 as a reducing agent. The optimized Ag2.5/ZIF-8 showed the strongest photocatalytic capability, with a degradation efficiency of 82.3% after 90 minutes. The compound was found to be a reusable and affordable catalyst for water remediation and biomedicine. The research also investigated the antibacterial activity and haemolytic activity of the compound. [Extracted from the article] |
