Abstrakt: New research from the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University explores the role of ALKBH5, an m6a demethyltransferase, in gastric cancer (GC). The study found that ALKBH5 is highly expressed in GC and that silencing ALKBH5 inhibits proliferation, metastasis, and induces cell death in GC cells. The researchers also identified alterations in certain ALKBH5 target genes, including CHAC1, which regulates intracellular ROS levels and influences chemotherapy sensitivity in gastric cancer. The study highlights the significance of m6A methylation and the ALKBH5-CHAC1-ROS axis in gastric cancer. [Extracted from the article]
