A study conducted by the Faculty of Law at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional in Surabaya, Indonesia, explores the emergence of dependent self-employment and its implications for workers' rights and protection in the gig economy. The research highlights the connection between the gig economy and dependent self-employment, and the lack of social and health protection for these workers due to misclassification. The study concludes that dependent self-employed individuals are more likely to face precarious working conditions compared to other dependent self-employed workers.
