Abstrakt: | Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute have developed a virtual reality platform called CC-VRS to objectively measure the performance of instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) in older adults. The platform combines an immersive virtual grocery store with an omnidirectional treadmill to create a scenario where users physically navigate through a virtual environment. The study found that older adults exhibited worse performance on cognitive, motor, and dual-task outcomes compared to young adults. The CC-VRS has the potential to accurately identify subtle functional deficits in IADL performance that may precede neurological disease. [Extracted from the article] |
