A recent report from the University of Florida College of Medicine discusses a case of scleral burn and perforation as a complication of diode laser transscleral cyclophotocoagulation in the treatment of refractory primary open-angle glaucoma. The procedure was aborted when the burns and perforation were noted, and the patient underwent limited peritomy and patch graft with a split-thickness donor cornea. The patient had a successful outcome with no significant complications at the 2-month post-operative visit. This case highlights a possible complication of the procedure and introduces a new method of managing this complication using a split-thickness donor cornea. [Extracted from the article] |
