A new study from the Doctoral School at "Victor Babes" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara, Romania, examines the impact of syndesmotic screw removal on the quality of life, mobility, and daily living activities in patients who have undergone distal tibiofibular diastasis repair. The study found that patients who had the screws removed reported higher satisfaction in mobility, better ability to perform daily activities, and lower pain levels compared to those who retained the screws. However, there was no significant difference in overall quality of life between the two groups. These findings provide valuable insights for orthopedic decision-making and patient-centered care in managing syndesmotic screws after distal tibiofibular diastasis repair.
