A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain explored the use of echocardiography tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) as a diagnostic tool for pulmonary hypertension (PH) in dogs with heartworm disease. The study included 116 heartworm-infected dogs with PH and 33 healthy dogs. The TDI measurements showed significant differences between dogs with and without PH, indicating a positive correlation with respect to the right pulmonary artery distensibility index (RPADi). The researchers concluded that TDI may be a useful adjunct diagnostic method for determining PH in dogs with heartworm disease. [Extracted from the article] |
