Abstrakt: | A report from Tufts University discusses the use of nightly vitamin A ointment in conjunction with a customized ocular surface prosthetic device (PROSE) for the treatment of chronic ocular surface disease associated with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS). The report describes a case study of a 51-year-old female with SJS who experienced disease progression when she stopped using the vitamin A ointment, but saw no further progression when she resumed its use. The researchers conclude that nightly vitamin A ointment may be a beneficial adjunct therapy for progressive chronic SJS ocular surface disease when used alongside daily PROSE wear.
