A recent study published in Pharmaceutical Biology discusses the potential protective effects of Kazinol B (KB), a compound derived from Broussonetia kazinoki Sieb. root, on hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced cardiac injury in H9c2 rat cardiac myoblasts. The study found that KB increased cell viability and suppressed LDH release in H/R-induced H9c2 cells. It also blocked apoptotic cascades, reduced reactive oxygen species production and lipid peroxidation, and induced Nrf2 activation. The researchers concluded that KB may be a promising drug candidate for managing ischemic cardiac disorders. [Extracted from the article] |
