Researchers from Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University in Moscow have conducted a study on strategies for HIV-1 suppression through key genes and cell therapy. The study highlights the limited therapeutic options available for HIV-infected individuals receiving combination antiretroviral therapy and the reduced life expectancy of those with HIV-1/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) complications. The researchers categorize current strategies for HIV-1 treatment into RNA- and antibody-based therapies, cell and genome editing approaches, and methods for eradicating latent reservoirs. The findings contribute to a better understanding of HIV-1 infection and offer insights for potential HIV-1 treatment. [Extracted from the article] |
