Abstrakt: A study conducted by researchers at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil has provided new insights into the lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase (LPMO) enzyme in Aspergillus fumigatus. LPMOs play a crucial role in breaking down cellulose, and this study focused on characterizing a new LPMO called AfLPMO9D. The researchers found that AfLPMO9D was highly efficient in breaking down amorphous cellulose and could be activated by light without the need for an external electron donor. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the role of LPMOs in cellulose deconstruction. [Extracted from the article]
