Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by the Rega Institute for Medical Research has found that tumor endothelial cells (TECs) play a crucial role in suppressing immune responses and maintaining an immune-excluded tumor phenotype in melanoma. The researchers discovered that inhibiting autophagy in TECs enhances antitumor immunity by promoting the infiltration and function of T-cells, thereby restricting melanoma growth. The study also revealed that patients who responded well to immunotherapy exhibited an enriched inflammatory TEC phenotype. These findings highlight the importance of autophagy as a key mechanism in tumor vascular anti-inflammatory processes in melanoma. [Extracted from the article]
