The article presents the views of several experts on a fictional case study concerning the dilemma faced by Ann Reardon, CEO of the The Eldora Co. (EDC), on whether she should establish an assembly plant in Asia. One expert recommends that EDC should move aggressively into the large and growing Asian markets. In doing this, Reardon must determine a long-term strategy for the Asian market. This entails understanding the true competitive strengths of EDC, and positioning the company so that those strengths are not jeopardized even as it moves quickly into the new arena. To achieve the company's goals, she should establish an alliance with a company or companies that can provide EDC with a strong distribution network and knowledge of the Asian markets. |
