This article, titled "Predictors of Performance in Young Weightlifters," explores the relationships between force generating capabilities and weightlifting performance in young weightlifters. The study examines the relationships between countermovement and isometric mid-thigh pull kinetics and weightlifting performance, using principal component analysis to determine the proportion of weightlifting performance that can be accounted for by these variables. The results show that CMJ propulsive variables can explain 81% of the variance in weightlifting combined total in young lifters. These findings suggest that IMTP peak force variables and CMJ propulsive variables could be valuable for talent identification and long-term athletic development in junior weightlifting pathways.
