This article discusses a prospective, observational study that aimed to determine the prevalence of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in asymptomatic patients undergoing routine endoscopic urological surgery under regional anesthesia. The study found that the prevalence of LVDD was 66.43% in these patients. The article also mentions that patients with higher grades of diastolic dysfunction experienced significant hypotension during the intra-operative period, but it responded well to treatment with vasopressors. The authors suggest that further studies are needed to explore risk stratification strategies for this subset of patients. [Extracted from the article] |
